 Additional Information

English (Translate this text in English):  Locals call it "Plo Nam" Rumor has it: discovered by Jaque Cousteu.
The best dive site in Thailand, but the viz is not excellent (Especially at large plankton blooms) (generally around 10m). Sealife is exceptional, large fish shoals Barracuda, Snapper, Trevally, also invertebrates...
Richelieu Rock has everything- Micro and macro. Porcelain crabs, Tiger Tail Sea Horses, Pipefish, Nudis, Harlequin Shrimp....
very little predator sharks
You can expect to see whale sharks (from february to may)
Whaleshark and Mantas both frequent the area. Best times are beginning and end of dive season when plankton blooms are highest.

Diving Richelieu Rock - I was fortunate to dive this location on 3 occasions about a 2 weeks apart. On the first dive the vis was excellent 30m+.We dropped down the rock face to the bottom being thrilled to find giant cuttlefish over a meter long as well as the long giant legged crabs. With the schools of fish making it seem as if we were in a virtual reality. We then ascended up the rock trying to make the dive last as long as possible.Truly the best dive of my life.If only we had encountered the giant mantas and whale shark, what a bonus that would have been.We squeezed in a second amazing dive that day and spent the rest of the 2 weeks off the Simmilian Islands longing to get back. But when we got there we dived in a strong current and vis down to 10 meters. With more fish species around than is possible to count on a weeks diving we said good bye to Richelieu Rock with dreams of coming back.
