 Western Cape

South Africa

English (Translate this text in English): The Western Cape is a province in the south west of South Africa. The capital is Cape Town.
Cape Town lies at the foot of the famous Table mountain which stretches out as a long peninsula with Cape Point Nature reserve at its most southerly point. This Peninsula divides the dive sites into Atlantic Seaboard and False bay-Indian Ocean. As the temperature can differ up to 10 Degrees from one side to the other, this obviously changes the natural environment and marine life.False Bay can similarly be divided into two halves The Simonstown Side And the Gordens Bay Side.Again i must mention the diving conditions on any given day will differ greatly viz, temperature, swell etc.As the temperature of the water differs obviouslly wetsuit thickness is an issue.

The Great white is a protected species in South Africa and with Shark cage diving readily available at specialist sites Your chance of seeing one ,on one of these organised dives is nearly 100%.
However the divers who have seen (confirmed) Great Whites on regular shore and boat dives are as rare as the creature itself.
